harper hill farm 2009 |
Gretchenhof Sherman's flight from CT to NY - July 1, 2003 Harper Hill Farm was in need of a purebred buck and Ann Engel had just the one. After a few weeks of e-mails and phone calls, Mother Nature cooperated and gave us a beautiful day to fly. Taking off from Batavia, NY, Joe and our friend, Pilot Jason Hepner, flew at 9000 ft without any difficulties. Joe describes the experience of flying into the clouds similar to hitting a snow bank with the snowmobile. After flying for just a few hours, they landed in Willamantic, CT just as Ann was pulling into the airport. "Little" Sherman was just shy of 2 months old and barely fit into the cat carrier on the plane's back seat. Other than a few cries upon take-off, he was a model passenger with a unique story to tell all the does that he was about to meet at Harper Hill Farm. Headwinds and rain on the way home, reduced the altitude to 6000 ft. making it even more interesting. What would have taken approximately 17 hours by car was reduced to just 6 hours by air. Many thanks to our friend Jason Hepner for giving Joe and Sherman an experience that they'll never forget. Many thanks to Ann Engel of Gretchenhof for giving us the opportunity to purchase Sherman. |
